Storm rains runs on Broadway

The game started rough for Storm. Still hurting (physically and emotionally) from the tournament Storm gave up the max six in the top of the first inning. This has become a concerning trend for the team. They got half the runs back in the bottom and in the second they maxed out their run potential even after it led off with a strikeout. The bottom of the third caused a significant amount of controversy as Storm again scored the mercy six, but Broadway’s scorer only had five runs. It turns out they had missed Sam being in the lineup completely.

I am Sam. Sam I am.
That Sam I am, that Sam I am
How did they miss that Sam I am?
He struck out in his first at bat
Somehow they didn’t notice that,
So when he came around to score
It was a thing they did ignore.
A controversy did ensue
Because they didn’t notice who
The sixth run in the inning was
Which caused an argument because
They did not think that six had scored
Because poor Sam had been ignored.
It came to light he did exist
And when he scored it was the sixth.
It did not help a courtesy
Was used for Sam so you can see
The situation got confused
Because a courtesy was used.
In the end it was resolved
Now everybody is absolved.

After three innings Storm was up 15-8. They scored five more in the fifth powered by a three run blast when Angry Al decided to show up. That extended their lead to 20-9, but Broadway is never down, and they took advantage of the open inning to score seven runs bringing them to within four. Storm scored three more in the fifth. The inning ended on a close play at home with the runner called out. The catcher clearly didn’t think the out had been recorded because he was throwing to third, but it is what it is.

Broadway tried to make a come back scoring three more in the top of the sixth but time was against them and even had they had enough time to come back, they probably wouldn’t have been able to record Storm out before time ran out.

It was an eventful game. Another event was one of the strangest things you’ll see. Lance nailed Duran with a ball while Duran was standing on third base. Broadway picked up the ball and threw to second and to first. The umpire called Duran safe because he was on the base when he was hit which actually led to a double play.

The next inning, as Duran was throwing the ball in, he noticed that he was bleeding from when the ball hit him. You’d think this would cause Duran to try to avoid balls, but in the outfield he kept attempting to field the ball with his chest instead of his glove.

But all’s well that ends well and Storm won and Duran left the game bruised but mostly intact.
