Storm didn't quite have it on Sunday

The Bat's were not all in sync on Sunday, as a result the Storm managed only 4 runs, while Xtreme Contracting used the strength of there top 4 batters to score 14. What can we say, we win some... we lose some. We just have to choose which ones we lose better. Well now all that can be said is.....Go Icehole's go!!!

PS. Direct Elevator beat the Devils 18 to 17 in the finals.

The Bats come alive!!!!

The Storm's bats were booming last night, as they pounded out 29 hits in a 23 to 8 win against Bradley Motors. The game started very will for the Storm as they put up 10 runs in the top of the first, but Bradley Motors were not going to go away quietly as they posted 6 runs in the bottom of the first inning. However as the game progressed, the Storm were hitting to well on this night and Bradley just couldn't match. A good season has come to a close, now this is where it counts, This is our year!!

Rookie hazing turns ugly

Following the team BBQ at Danny's place on Sunday, the newest Storm player Colin made an unscheduled trip into Danny's Pool. I must say that he handled himself with class unlike Dave who ran and fought like a little baby!

Storm take out Greenthumb for their 20th Win

The Storm put up nine runs in the first inning, against an injury depleted Greenthumb team. After that the Storm easily powered their way to a 19 - 9 victory thanks to Homerun's from Joey and Bob, and some good pitching by all three Storm pitchers. This, the 20th win of the season marks the sixth consecutive season with 20 or more wins for the Storm. One more game against Bradley motors, then bring on the playoff's!

Important Documents come to light

Ancient Whitby Mens slo-pitch documents were recently unearthed, and Yes it's true they have been walking for a long time...

Storm have no answer for Direct Elevator

It wasn't a poorly played game by the Storm, but a few timely errors and a lack of power at the plate are hurting the Storm. The 22 - 6 final could easily have been reversed if some of the Storms' line drives were not hit directly at Direct Elevator players. Direct played well and hit well, but a few defensive miscues allowed innings to continue long past the third out.

Storm comeback to tie Hanet

The Storm had very little offense in the first 6 innings, but managed to score three runs in the top of the 7th. Those runs allowed the Storm to take a one run lead into the bottom of the 7th but Hanet had a lead-off double and a couple of batters later he scored to tie the game at 3. The defense was solid by both teams as there were few hits by both teams.

Falcons still steaming over Storm walking them!!!!

The Falcons have shown their sense of humor again. This picture is posted on their website. But at least our legs look good.

Storm's big inning produces victory

The game was close for 5 innings with it going back and forth between the two teams. But in the 6th inning the Storm sent 12 batters to the plate and produced 8 runs. That was just too much for Coulas to come back from. The final score was Storm 17 - Coulas 11

Storm come back to beat Rebels

The dark storm clouds along with big drops of rain and the sheets of lightning and loud thunder claps were not enough to keep the Storm from recording their 18th win of the year. This was a game that had good defense by both teams, a few timely hits, and a lot of X's. it took less than an hour for the Storm to defeat the Rebels 6 to 5 in 7 innings. The Storm were down by one going into the top of the 7th but came out victorious thanks to some heads up base running and one errant throw home.

Storm get blasted by the Falcons again....

Once the pregame crying was over, the Falcons settled for the first base bench. The game started off with the Falcons getting a couple of hits and with the bases loaded who is up to bat, of course David! Al tries to be careful and give him very little to hit, but no luck he hammers his 27th or 47th or something like that to deep centre field. In the end David and Greg are intentionally walked 3 times each giving up 4 runs in the process, but it seemed worth it at the time. The 25 - 8 score wasn't great, but at least we'll still make the playoffs.

The Win that wasn't !!

The Extreme team grabbed victory right out of the hand of the Storm, by scoring 5 runs on 8 hits in the bottom of the 6th. The Storm had no answer in the 7th which resulted in a 7 to 4 loss. Extreme Contracting wins the season series 3 games to 1.

Long Ball returns to the Storm's Arsenal

With the help of a three run HR by Joey and a Grand Slam HR by Brad, the Storm overpowered Greenthumb by a 14 to 9 final. This was a well played game with few errors, one close call in centre field and some superb pitching by Al. The Storm scored early and offen then held on in the end as Greenthumb tried hard in the last few inning to come back.

Hanet can't field a team !!!

It was a disappointing night, as Hanet came up a few players short last night and had to default the game. The good news was that the Storm was able to practice for a hour. It was a lot of fun for everyone to play the different positions all night. But in the end it was a 7 - 0 victory.

Storm Demolished by A's

A very shorthanded Storm team was beat soundly by the A's. The 20 - 10 loss was a misleading final due to the excellent sportsmanship shown by the A's. We played with 8 guys as it turned out, 6 people had signed out and one didn't make it. A speacial thanks goes out to Mike Tyl who came back from the cottage to play the game. Gary played 2nd for most of the game and was sure tested each inning, we gave him a break in the 6th and 7th by moving him to third. Joey rescued me in the outfield to start the 4th inning as I couldn't make many plays last night, as there seemed to be to much real estate for three guys to cover.

Storm blow lead, to Devils

It started out well with the Storm playing well and holding the Devils to no runs for 5 innings, but it"s slopitich and to keep that up is next to impossible. So in the the 6th the Devils scored 3 which cut the Storms lead in half. In the 7th the Devils need 3 to tie and 4 to win, and that"s exactly what they went out and did. 4 runs scored without the Storm able to get an out. Net result a 7 to 6 victory for the devils.

The Storm keeps rolling along.....

The Storm posted their 6th win in a row last night and are now undefeated in 7 games. This was a balanced offense with the entire lineup contributing to the victory. The Rebels played hard, and their comeback in the 7th came up a few runs short, thanks to some stellar defense. In the end it was a 10 to 7 victory.

Storm undefeated in 6 games

It was a hot sticky night last night, but the Storm didn't let that slow them down. They started out with 7 runs by the end of second inning and as it turned out that was all that was needed. The Storm easily held on to a 12 - 6 win.

Monday, July 12, 2010

Storm keeps on rolling....

The Storm scored all their runs in the first 3 innings, but held the Devils to a few scattered runs in the remaining 4 innings. Thanks in large part to two solid pitching performances, a HR and solid work on the base paths (See re-enactment photo below for what I think my Patrick looked like), The Storm held on to defeat the dreaded Devils 9 to 7.

Minus the base, the helmet and add about 150 Lbs. This is me running to 3rd base last night.

Storm Shut -Out Greenthumb

With all the winning seasons that the Storm have enjoyed over the last few years, this is the first shut-out that the Storm has posted. Both AL and Mike T. put on pitching clinics, and the defense was the best it's been all year. The only challenge we encountered was the brain farts on the base paths. All in all it was a good victory over our arch nemesis and Joey's next team. Final was 12 - 0.

Impressive 15 - 9 win by the Storm

The game started off quickly as both teams had played 4 innings in about 15minutes. Then the hits started coming the Storm took the lead then Direct came back and took the lead. However an 8 run 6th inning put away Direct Elevator for good. After the game while we were LEGALLY having a few beverages and reminiscing a good night with only few BLONDE moments, news came to light that makes Brad THE first Storm player to win all 5 awards in one MUSICAL. (Oh I mean Game)

Storm victorious over the Falcons

With the Falcons jumping to a 7 - o lead in the second this game didn't look to promising for the Storm, but a few timely hits and a Joey grand slam later, The Storm battle back and win this one 13 to 8. The after party back at Dave's place was fantastic, good food and good fun was had by all that were able to attend. Brad you were awarded a willie for running out on your team and staying at the cottage. Colin you were awarded a Can of Corn for dropping the ball and missing the BBQ, after you said you were coming.

Storm lose in a rain short game

The Devils beat the Storm 7 to 4 in a rain shortened game. The Storm Bats just didn't have it last night, and two solo home-runs just didn't produce the runs that we needed.

Nothing pretty about this game, Just out played which resulted in a 23 - 11 loss.

The Shifters only managed 11 hits all night, as a result the Storm only handed out 1 defensive award. That by the way is a new team record. In the end the Storm won 13 to 2.

Monday, June 14, 2010

Storm hammer Greenthumb

The hits just kept coming for the Storm as they belted out 30 hits and Joey's grandslam didn't hurt either in this 20 to 4 victory.

New Award Added

Since we are off to such an excellent start this year, the thought was that we should add one more category to the awards. The Piniella award has now been added. It will be used for any and all coaching blunders or entertainment resulting from an interesting decision someone has made for another player.

Examples:
Sending a runner when you shouldn't have
Holding a runner when you shouldn't have

Rebels come from behind to beat the Storm

Storm powered out to an early lead but could not carry the hitting thoughout the entire game, as a result the Rebels chipped back and in the end took this one 13 to 11.

Devils smoke the Storm

Nothing good to say about last nights game, except... no wait as I was not saying Storm lost 25 - 8.

Thursday, May 27, 2010

Storm win 15 - 5

Hanet and the Storm played a good game last night. Both teams had plenty of hits but the difference in this one was that the Storm scored there base runners and Hanet left them on base time after time.

Storm win in bottom of the 7th

It certainly wasn't the Storms best defensive game, but in the end they played well enough to win. A couple of dropped balls put the Storm down a run heading into the bottom of the 7th, but three hits later, the Storm win by one run 14 - 13.

Friday, May 7, 2010

Storm comes up a bit short

Storm lose 17 - 15 on a very wet night of Ball. Storm kept fighting back all night, but 2 unmatched runs in the 7th were to much for the Storm.

Looks Like a few changes this year

2010 looks to be an interesting year for the Storm as a few roster positions will be changing. Out are Mike Fox and Ron Pilon and returning to the team after a years hiatus will be Mike Ogg. Matt has not confirmed his return yet, but we're hopping that will happen shortly.
