Storm strikes back with 11 runs in the 7th to secure third place this season!

Spoiler Alert!

Good day Constant Reader Scoops Jockovitch here, award winning sports journalist and just like Shutter Island, Fight Club and The Usual Suspects, your Storm had a twist ending all set up after what may be the lads in Orange most “emotional “ game in a long time.

Facing the former Washington Nationals in a must win game for both teams the game started in a very boring way both teams dunking donuts in the 1st inning. The scoring started in the top of the second with a towering shot to the Baskervilles by Sherlocks best buddy. Our lads went into the bottom of the second leading 1-0 and that was when the wheels on the blue meth making Winnebago of the Storm started to get wobbly.

Some poorly timed walks by BOTB and some sketchy defence gave the Ex’s both lots of runs and lots of outs. The Po’s were gifted the max for the inning. SCORE 6-1 Montreal. Our boys had no response in the turd inning and the scheduled pitching change was made going into the bottom of the inning.

Once again it was pedestrians, solid hitting and some questionable D that gifted Youppi’s favourite team another max score. End of 3 SCORE 12-1

Emotional clouds were brewing in the Storms clubhouse as frustration from several players came to the forefront. But as a young lad from Tatooine was once told by a bald Muppet, “Passion leads to frustration. frustration leads to anger, anger leads to hitting, now go hit the f’n ball young Skywalker!” It was with this motivation that the Storm “forced” their own max 6 across the plate and brought in the now wily veteran pitcher to keep Youppi’s team down. SCORE 13-7.

Over the next 2 innings the Storm would score 3 while Les Expo would also plate 3. Going into the Top of the 7th the score was 16-10 with our lads coming to the plate.

So as mentioned earlier there a twist ending coming. No, it’s not all in Leo’s head, no its not all in Ed Nortons head and yes Kevin Spacey is Kaiser Soze. But nobody (except for the Expos) expected this.

There is a brief history of comebacks by the Storm on the Expos but surely being up by 6 in the last inning would break that curse. That curse still stands mother fudgers! Your lads would score 12 in the inning and bat around before announcing their 2nd and 3rd outs to be able to get the inning in.

Some great pitching by Batting Practice and a redemptive defence play by the Doctor shut out les Expos for a 22-16 win. My very, very old malignant, crusty ticker can’t handle many more of these games.

Storm just barely hang on over Hanet

An Ode to Captain Underpants, King of the Mound Oh how we miss you, you wielder of the arc, Your moon-ball soars high, like a comet through the dark. A lob, a soft rainbow, a teasing delight—Batters swing wildly, then curse at the sight.

The crowd holds its breath as the ball makes its dance, All hail the sly wizard in his cotton-blend pants! Though others may brag of their heaters and speed, It’s patience, precision, and quirks that succeed.

For slo-pitch is subtle, your strikes were a lock While our pitchers today provide many a walk.

Good day Scoops Jockovitch here, award-winning sports journalist.

In short the game was like my first the second wife it had beautiful parts to it, but it was really ugly underneath. Our boys in orange took on those Plastic Hanets.

What purpose does a Plastic hanet serve? Is it the end of your shoelace?

To say the least our pitching pool was more of a Mr. turtle pool this evening with Batting Practice taking the day off leaving only the rookies The French Canadian Prairie dog and the Broadside of the Barn left to pitch.

Those injection molders scored a handful in the first created by some walks and some solid hitting. Our Stormy boys countered with a “Mills triple” (which equates to a single combined with some speed combined with some throwing errors) The Gimp then stepped up and hit his first home run of the evening . At the end of 1 it was 5-2 Plastics

The wily French Canadian Prairie Dog battled over the next few innings keeping the scoring and walks to a minimum as he seemed to have found his groove and at the end of 4 thanks to another Gimpian round tripper the game was tied at 8.

Going into the open inning 5th things got nervous and then historic as walks were plentiful and the Hanet damn could have been blown open like Force 10 from Navarone until the Prez turned an UNASSISTED TRIPLE PLAY! A play so nice they named a slo-pitch team after it.

This narrow escape spurred our Tangerine team on to score a mighty 9 runs that would surely seal the deal.

Well, that was until Broadside stepped onto the mound and like his nickname states about that barn, he couldn’t hit the plate, and by plate I mean huge board of wood.

Broadside didn’t last the inning with the TP Prez having to pull the chute and step in.

The petroleum-based injection molds crossed 10 to retake the lead.

Our downtrodden lads rallied with another Millsian triple, a well-timed SAC and solid hitting to score 3 to take the lead by a single run.

With time running out the TP Prez hit the plate and got some solid defence behind him to secure the skin o’ the teeth victory.

Like my 4th wife the game wasn’t pretty, but they got the job done.

Hopefully the pitching finds itself some consistency and the momentum stays on the Storm side heading into the final games o’ the season.

Storm with Strong Finish over Coulas

Good day sports fans Scoops Jockovitch here, award-winning sports journalist!

It has been a while constant reader and I do apologize for my lengthy, lengthy, lengthy, (oh how I wish it was more than just my absence that was lengthy)

We won't get into the reasons as I've been told to keep this recap on the short side (yes, yes that's what she said on my third honeymoon night).

The boys in orange we're taking on those crackers of Coulas and similar to the reason for my 4th divorce it was a back and forth affair!

The “young” Storm rookie pitcher seem to find the strike zone after the previous game of having no idea how to hit the broadside of a barn or a plank of wood.

It was a triumvirate of pitchers (POW, The Premier and Baby Kangaroo) for the Storm that kept the Spine from gaining too much momentum. However, a few defensive lapses on the Storms part that kept the game close. The Storm poured it on in the 6th and 7th and the GregRoll sealed the deal (needing to impress his hairiest fan) with a Mills-less catch!

The boys in orange walked away with a solid victory over the Vertebrae.

Some low lights include Premier Leveque's arm and the Generals glove.

However, the highlight of the night belongs to the young ginger rookie with a five RBI night!
At least I think he's ginger it could just be my astigmatism!

Until next time my friends this has been Scoops Jockovoitch-award-winning sports journalist!

Strap in as Hurricane Al provided a tidal wave of RBI’s!

Greetings sports fans Scoops Jokovitch here, intrepid sports reporter with you recap of a hot a dry game that is full of weather puns!

In a showdown that rained homeruns, the Storm "blew" away the competition, leaving the Surge with more than just a drizzle of regret. The first inning saw the Storm strike with a "thunderous" 6 runs, while the Surge could only "precipitate" 3 in return—talk about a "storm surge!"

The second inning was a "light drizzle" in comparison, with the Storm adding just 1 more to their "cloudy" collection while the Surge was left high and dry with nothing but "clear skies."

In the third inning, the Storm "rained down" another 6, but the Surge wasn't about to "throw in the towel" just yet, answering back with a "steady stream" of 4. It was a "waterlogged" inning for sure!

The fourth inning was a "torrential" affair, with the Storm pouring on 5 more runs. The Surge, however, had a bit of "lightning in a bottle" and sparked a 6-run rally of their own, making it a real "whirlwind" of an inning.

But by the fifth inning, the Storm decided to "reign" supreme, "flooding" the scoreboard with 4 more runs, while the Surge's momentum "trickled down" to just 2.

The final inning saw the Storm add another tsunami with 5 more runs, while the Surge was left "high and dry," unable to add a single drop. In the end, the Storm washed away the competition with a "monsoon" of 27 runs to the Surge's 15.

It was a game where the Storm proved they were the real "force of nature," leaving the Surge to "weather the aftermath."

Hi-lites included: A monster day of  8 RBI’s for Captain Underpants and a monster of a HR by a very angry Roberto!

Lo-Lites – A K for the Prez, A costly fielding error for a rookie SS and Dr. Suess unable to hit a cut-off man.

That’s it that’s all!

Genesis 22:1-19 ( No not a score)

Good day fans of middle-aged men in tight pants! Scoops Jockovitch, intrepid sports reporter here with the latest of your Storm brethren.

It was a Prince written, Bangles performed kind of Manic Monday as your Storm took on those Digits of Vermillion on the dusty diamond of destiny (yes, I know I’ve used that before, but hey shoot me, I like it)

The formerly Orangey boys led off the 1st  with a threesome of runs only to be matched by a menage a trois of their own by the Pouce Vert.   The second saw the teams play a little Match game of runs as well. Billy Bob was so drunk he BLANKED on his own face. Game tied @ 6-6
One low light of the second saw the Baby Kangaroo get picked off at 2nd, which is a very
un-presidential thing to do.

The Orangemen served up a goose egg in the 3rd and just to prove to themselves that whatever you can do we can do better, the Thumbs matched that egg.

In the next inning, having been proven allergic to eggs, the Storm went thru the order and plated a handful. Which should have been a max 6 but the Spicy Gregroll showed that he doesn’t really like foreplay and decided to skip 2nd base to end the play and was thereby called  out, nullifying the 6th run

The aforementioned Baby Kangaroo however seemed to enjoy making plays that benefitted the Thumbs as he was their catcher in the 4th and went Biblical! And by that, I mean he followed good old Abrahams’s rule of thumb and sacrificed his only son.

Suess was making his way to 3rd base, but his father would have none of that and threw a dart that not only hit him but made an out. That’s at least 2 extra therapy sessions down the line!

Storm kept delivering Beatles lyrics to the Thumbs for they were the Eggman once again. 11-6

The open inning was just that with everyone minus Monsieur Olympiad hitting and scoring highlighted by back-to-back a Big D boomers. 22-6

The 6 & 7 saw the Greenies score only 2 while the Orange et Blue scored 4 more for a final of 26-8

Some lowlites: Dr. Suess had a hit for a home run But we were already 2 up, so that was no fun. The new catcher rule seems to disagree with the BK as he recorded two outs for the opposition.

That’s it that’s all for me. Tune in next time for my in-depth coverage of Olympic Break dancing! This has been Scoops Jockovitch, intrepid sports reporter.

The Blistered Juggler

Greetings sports fans, it’s your favourite intrepid sports reporter Scoops Jockovitch here, reporting on the latest athletic endeavours of your favourite Whitby Men’s slo-pitch team named after a climatological event.
It was a muggy, buggy night as the battle of the 2 “S” teams faced off on the dusty diamond of destiny!
In the 1st Surge came out slugging like my drunken father to score 3.
The newly attired Storm replied like my favourite bartender with a double shot of 3’s to lead 6-3.
The 2nd inning saw many mosquito bites and a goose egg for the fashionable French men (Serge)
The less orange Stormies matched their 1st inning output with another 6 to start ( like my 3rd wife) pulling away, with a 12-3 lead.

Just to appease everyone’s short attention span the Cloudy ones went on to a comfortable win, 26-9.

But we know we’re all here to review and comment on some of the games highlites and more importantly (like my second wife) to make fun of the foibles, faults and f*ck-ups.

Rene (The Lips), after returning from a very successful fishing trip in the magical land of scorching sun called Saskamatoon had an eventful game.
Not only were his scorched, blistered lips offensive but so was he with 5 RBI’s, including 2 HR’s. On the downside, there was one play that the Storms first baseman must have thought that Rene’s blistered visage was so horrific that he turned his back to the scab faced third baseman instead of facing him to receive a throw, allowing the Electric companies batter to end up on 2nd.
In defence of the Highlander on first, he did think The Lips had caught the line drive and had zoned out before realizing that the ball had popped out of his glove like an oozing pustule.

General (the Juggler) Mills also stood out in this game for both his rapid feet and hands.
Feet – A short pop-up behind second base was called for and easily caught by the General even before the Sloth at second had barely moved a step.
However, on a deep ball to right centre the Juggler appeared as the ball dropped into and out of and into and out of and finally into the frantic hands of the General for a very exciting, testicle-tightening out.

That’s it, that’s all for me.

Tune in next time loyal reader for more adventures of the less orange, climatologically challenged slo-pitch team we love!
