In a six-inning slowpitch spectacle due to time, that looked less like softball and more like a home run derby on double espresso, the Storm managed to out-slug the Coulas Bone Crushers 17-15.

The Storm offense came out throwing haymakers, dropping a five-spot in the first inning. Joey was a walking cheat code, going a flawless 4-for-4 with a triple and a walk, apparently playing an entirely different sport than the rest of us mortals. Tony and Duran also decided that outfield fences were merely polite suggestions, both launching absolute tape-measure moonshots.

But anyone expecting the Bone Crushers to play dead hasn't seen their team name. They answered with a furious six-run second inning that had the Storm outfielders running circles like panicked Labradors.

By the fifth inning, both pitching staffs looked like they were ready to sign a peace treaty. The scorekeeper was treating a calculator like a musical instrument, and the fans were exhausted just watching the base paths.

The drama peaked in the final frame. The Storm tacked on three crucial insurance runs to bring their tally to 17—which proved to be a literal lifesaver. The Bone Crushers mounted one last terrifying, four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth, threatening a walk-off. Ultimately, the Storm held on by the skin of their teeth, securing a 17-15 victory in a game where defense was purely optional.

Storm bats came alive as Storm crushed the Coulas Bonecrushers. They put up the max six in three of the first four innings (and somehow put up a goose egg in the second). Storm would put up another six in the sixth on their way to a 27-8 victory. Every player got a hit, every player scored a run. Bob hit two home runs. Tony hit a home run and reached base every at bat. Shawn and Greg also had perfect nights at the plate. Storm’s offense was on full display throughout the game (except the second inning) and it truly was a team effort.

Storm was also solid on the other side of the ball getting good pitching and timely defense to keep Coulas off the board in five out of seven innings.
