Storm Soars Over Falcons

The Falcons flew high in the top of the 1st inning. After three consecutive walks and an infield single, they hit a grand slam, batted through the order and scored six runs in the top of the 1st inning. Storm responded immediately as Brad hit a solo shot, and Duran hit a grand slam as Storm batted through their order scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and wiping the slate clean.
The Falcons scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning, but Storm batted through the order again. Things settled down a little in the 3rd inning, but Bob managed to score from first on a ground ball to the pitcher, as the 1st baseman  dropped the throw and was in absolutely no hurry to go pick it up. Storm batted through the order again in the 5th inning en-route to a 27-11 victory.

Notable Boxscores:
Duran – 5/5, grand slam, 3 runs, 7 RBI
Joey – 5/5, 4 runs, 1 RBI

Storm starts strong; swings its way to victory

Storm started strong as they batted through the order and then some in the top of the first. Mayhem put up a valiant effort, and had an inning where they batted through the order as well, and closed the gap to 16-9. However, Storm was just too strong top to bottom, and kept putting up crooked numbers throughout the game on the way to a 28-13 victory.

Notable offensive stats:
Jeff – 4/6, 2 runs, 2RBI and a grand slam that didn’t count because the team was already up two home runs
Brad – 4/6, 2 runs, 4 RBI
Joey, 6/6, 2 runs, 6RBI, and a selfish solo HR
Bob – 3/6, 3 runs, 3 RBI, 1 HR and a 2nd that didn’t count because of Joey’s selfishness; Bob was also a double shy of the cycle
Al – 4/5 1 run, 1 RBI
Lance  2/4, 3 runs
Duran – 3/5, 2 runs, 2 RBI
Brian – 4/5, 2 runs, 4 RBI
Greg – 2/5, 4 runs
Kenny – 3/5 – 4 runs, 1 RBI
Mike – 5/5, 3 runs, 4 RBI; Mike is also 8/8 in the last two games, and is 11/12 across the last four games

All Good Things......

The game started a little roughly. An error at 3rd led to four unearned runs. Storm fought back hard through the first two innings, but the 3rd inning turned into a comedy of errors. Except this comedy wasn’t funny. One reviewer from Rotten Tomatoes said it was “painful, rather than funny.” Another said, “The script from Bradley Chance went to the same well too often.” Finally, another said that “the actors tried hard, but the material just fell flat.”
In all seriousness, Bradley played an excellent game. They hit the ball hard, and played solid defense. They earned the win!

As for Storm’s streak, it will be like a woman who claims she never ages after 29;
our streak will forever remain 29 games old.
The Streak Lived from May 24th, 2015 to August 24th 2015

3 months, or 92 Days, or 13 weeks.

= 29 Wins!

Notable Boxscores:
Jeff – 4/4, 1 HR, 3 runs, 4 RBI
Lance – 4/4, 3 Runs
Al – 4/4, 3RBI
Mike 3/3, 2 runs
Brian – 2/3, 1HR, 2RBI
Joey – 1/2, 1 HR, 3RBI
Duran – 1/2, 2 BB

Storm pulls away from the A's

It was another tight game early on for the Storm. The A’s were up 5-4 after the first inning and it was a 6-6 tie after three. Storm had an explosive fourth inning, batting through the order and scoring 10. The A’s never recovered, and the game turned into another lopsided victory with a final of 28-9.
There was some concern when Duran hit his (Mother Nature assisted) homerun. His only other homeruns had come in the only loss of the season, so there was some mild panic, but it was unfounded.

There were a number of offensive stars in the game.
Joey – 4/4,  1 HR, 4RBI
Al – 4/4, 1 HR
Bob – 3/3 and extremely intimidating with 2 intentional walks
Duran 3/4, 1HR, 4RBI
Lance 3/4, 4 RBI
Kevin, Brian and Mike were all also 3/4

Storm Stays Strong

Hanet started strong by scoring two in the top of the first, but Storm responded with two of their own. Defense was tight on both sides, and the 2nd inning was scoreless. Storm was able to add two more in the 3rd Hanet got one back in the top of the 4th, but it was a seven run 4th inning that put the game out of reach. Hanet got one back in the 5th and 6th, but Storm held on for a 12-5 victory.
There was some excellent defense for the Storm. Dave made a great catch on a line drive with two runners on, ending an inning, and made a great scoop on a low throw to end another inning. Lance made a number of key plays at 3rd base, and Bob made some nice catches in the outfield.
Offensively, the whole team was contributing. 10 different players scored a run or got an RBI.

It seems the team is eager to get the season over with, as this is the 2nd consecutive game that was played in just over an hour. Another interesting note: the team now has as many wins as Duran has years on the planet.

Tight Defense wins the day

This game was a stark contrast to game one of the doubleheader. Whereas the first game was a slugfest, game two featured strong pitching and defense on both teams. The Devils were using a new pitcher, but after a leadoff walk, he seemed to settle in, and held the Storm bats to a single-digit score.

It was a close game, with the score 4-3 at one point. Lance hit a homer that put the Storm up early, and with the score 5-3, Joey hit a two run, opposite field blast. The Devils countered with a two run shot that brought them back within two, but James put the game out of reach with another two run shot. The Devils were unable to put anything together in the bottom of the seventh as the Storm held on to a 9-5 victory.

Storm clinch 1st place

In an event almost as rare as Halley’s comet, Fred actually showed up to a game. This caused some concern among team members who were concerned that this might affect the team’s mojo. It wasn’t a major concern, however, as Storm bats were alive throughout the game. James hit two home runs, and Brian hit a grand slam on the way to a 28 - 15 victory. Also, a highlight for Brian, was the fact that he actually got to meet Fred. For Brian, Fred was like a sasquatch - rumoured to exist, but never seen.

This win clinches 1st place for the Storm.

Storm roars back to make it 24 in a row

Direct came out with bats blazing in this one scoring 5 runs in the first frame with Tyler's 3 run bomb as the big blow.

Joey answered back for Storm with a towering flyball that just squeaked over to narrow Direct's lead 5-2.

Storm hit well in the second frame to take the lead 7-6 after two innings.

Direct came back in a big way to score 10 runs over the next two innings taking a large 16-7 lead.

Storm would roar back in the bottom of the 4th to score 11 runs in the inning with a line drive homerun to left field by Joey to make it 18-16.

7 more would cross the plate for Storm capped off by a 3 run shot from Brad.

Final score 25-21 in a great game played by both squads

Offense comes out strong in game 2 of doubleheader

Storm came out strong in this one scoring 13 runs after the first two innings.  Lance hit a bomb and then the lineup from second to bottom came through with hit after hit.

After holding the Devils to 5 runs they cruised to the win as the game ended early after 5 innings.

Final score 15-5

Game notes:
Kevin: 2/3 2 runs, 1 RBI
Joey 3/3, 3 runs
Bob: 3/3, 3 runs,
Al: 2/3, 2 RBI, 1 run
Brian: 2/3, 2 RBI, 1 run
Lance: 2/3, 1 HR, 1 run, 1 RBI
Greg 2/3, 1 run
Kenny 3/3, 1 run, 1 rbi
Dave 2/3, 1 run, 2 rbi

Fantastic game ends with a W for Storm

It started off slowly for Storm with just two runs in the first 3 innings.
The Falcons on the other hand came out strong leading 7-2 after 3 innings.

Storm came out strong in the 4th inning thanks to an absolutely perfect swing by Dave as he deposited a 3 run shot well over right field.

Joey would hit a 2 run shot in the 5th inning to make it 10-7.

Falcons would roar back to score 5 more over the next two innings making it 12-12 going into the bottom of the 7th.

The Falcons curiously intentionally walked the winning run Al and Brian hit a nice single to move him up a station.

Lance then came up to the plate and hit a laser into the left center gap for a walk off victory.

Final score 13-12

Game Notes:
Joey 2/2, HR, 2 runs, 2 RBI
Al 1/2, 2 runs, 2 Walks
Brian 4/4, 1 run, 1 RBI
Lance 3/4, 2 RBI, 1 Run
Greg 2/3, 1 run
Dave 3/3, HR, 4 RBI

August starts with a W.

After a slow start for both teams following the long weekend, it was 3-2 for Coulas after 2 innings.
The Storm bats woke up in the 3rd, leading to 13 runs.  The inning was highlighted by a 3-run homer by Brian and a grand slam by Joey Stats.

A mysterious fog crept in late in the game to help a Coulas 7-run rally in the 6th, but Storm held on for a 22-11 victory.

Game notes:
Joey Stats - 6/6.  0/3 in attempts to complete the cycle.
Brian - 4/5.  Another big night against his former team.
James - 4/5.  Ruined a perfect night at the plate by hitting a grand slam after we were already up 2 home runs.
