For the 2nd time in as many games, Storm
played a one-run game. This time, however, Storm came out on top.
Storm started slowly. Storm was unable to score any
runs in the first two innings. Thankfully, the defense was solid, and they held
Hanet to only two runs across the first two innings. Then, in the 3rd,
Storm started to roll scoring eight runs including a three-run homer by Bob and
a two-run blast by Lance. These well-timed hits helped Storm to jump out to an
8-2 lead. In the bottom of the 3rd, Hanet responded quickly scoring
three.
The bottom of the order started things again for Storm
with back-to-back doubles in the 4th. Storm was able to put up 3
more runs and take an 11-5 lead. Storm bats stopped bringing the thunder in the
5th and 6th. In the bottom of the 5th , Hanet scored 4 bringing the score to 11-9 and
the bottom of the 6th made it 11-10.
In the top of the 7th, Jeff, who had been
held hitless so far in the game led off with a solo home run. It bounced off
the left field foul pole, then, unfortunately off the Hanet left fielder’s
head. He would be okay and the game would resume. Storm would be unable to add
any more runs, and would carry a two-run lead into the bottom of the 7th.
Hanet started things off well with a couple of hits.
They scored a run to bring the score to within one, but a couple of groundball
fielder’s choices ended the game.
Storm played solid defense throughout the game, and
got three timely home runs. They also got three close plays called in their
favour. A force play at 3rd and a tag play at 3rd were
both close and could have gone either way. They both went to Storm. There was
also a line-drive to LCF that Bob dove and “caught”. There was some discrepancy
about whether the ball was caught or trapped, and this time the call was a
catch.
Sometimes things go your way, and on this day, things
went well for Storm.
HR's: Lance, Bob, Jeff
