Storm has had a rough couple of weeks against Broadway. Broadway
defeated Storm in regular season play, then defeated them twice in the
mid-season tournament, then Storm managed to salvage a tie in the fourth meeting
in a week. This week, however, Storm decided they were going to step up and get
a victory… and they did.
The game started the way many games between Bradway and Storm start..
close. Each team put up three runs in the first inning, and after two it was
4-3 Storm. After three it was 7-7 and things were getting a little tense. After
four, Broadway was up 13-9, and things started to look like they were going to
end the way many recent encounters had ended. However, Storm seemed to have
something special in the 5th last night as they were able to put up
double-digits to take a lead they would not surrender.
Jeff started the inning with an out, but the rest of the team
remembered how to hit. Kevin doubled, and then Storm strung together three
hits. Then with two outs, Brad, Bob, and Duran string together back to back
doubles, Joey singled, and Lance doubled. Jeff then came up with the
opportunity to be the first and third out of the inning. He hit a deep fly ball
to left that hit the top of the fence and bounced over for a three-run homer
capping off the 10-run inning.
In the 6th inning, Storm added four more runs . In the 6th,
Storm thought variety would be the way to go, as Kenny walked, Brad singled,
Bob, homered, and Duran tripled. Had Joey doubled, the team would have hit for
the cycle in the inning. Also, Bob was confused when he hit his home run. Had he hit a triple, he would
have had a cycle. Instead he had to settle for a single, double, and two home
runs.
Cycle Watch: Bob and Duran are on personal missions to hit as many
cycles as possible. Both were a hit short. Bob missed the triple, Duran missed
the homer.
Productivity watch: Joey got at least one RBI in every single at bat.
Storm was much better at the plate in this game. As a team, Storm
managed 15 extra base hits including four home runs.
HR's: Lance, Bob (2), Jeff
