Homerfest won by Storm

Storm started strong batting through the order in the first inning scoring 9 runs. Direct stayed pretty close, and managed to crank out 7 home runs to the Storms 5 Hr's that counted. However the Storm stayed ahead in the scorebook and was able to hold on 23-17.

Highlights: 2 home runs by Joey, and home runs by Brian, James and Brad.

Not So Highlight: Boom Boom Jeffrion struck again for yet another home run out.

Storm Front Blows Through Tournament

Though the skies were sunny and clear, a storm front definitely blew through the tournament this weekend. It started on Friday night as Storm played a nearly unrecognizable Devils team. It was a tightly contested defensive match through most of the game. Storm eventually pulled ahead and won 12-2.

In the morning, The Falcons flew in to take on Storm. This game certainly had more of an offensive feel, but Storm slugged its way through the Falcons and went on to a 25-14 victory.

Xtreme was next and Storm bats kept rolling. The defense was pretty strong as well and Storm rolled to a 23-12 victory. This win was important, because it meant that Storm would avoid back to back games all day. It allowed for lengthy philosophical discussions on the meanings of 70s rock songs and let the team relax and nurse any injuries that needed tending to, while Storm’s opponent would have to play three consecutive games.

As it would turn out, Storm’s opponent for the championship game would be Xtreme again. Xtreme was tired and frustrated from the heat and competition and started to come undone after an early ball up the middle, and Storm effectively hitting against the defensive alignments they set up. Storm jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and never really looked back. Storm played well on both sides of the ball and went on to win 25-12.

The whole weekend was a great one for Storm. Storm played well on both sides of the ball and was able to keep calm whenever errors were made so no innings ever really spiraled out of control. It was a great team effort.

Special thanks to Dave for the pool party afterwards and to Lance for bringing the meat. Let’s hope this tournament helps Storm stay focused in the year end tournament.

Comeback Quells Rebellion

Under a clear, dark sky, the Rebels sent their troops to battle. They sent out the heavy artillery and put some major damage in the Storm trenches in the second and third innings. Many well-placed hits combined with a few Storm miscues allowed the Rebels to get up 14-1 after the top of the third. Early in the game, Storm tried hard at the plate, but their bats forked no lightning, and they struggled to put up any kind of resistance to the Rebels attack. In the 4th, the Storm bats finally found life and they scored six runs, but the Rebels onslaught continued and they put up 5 more in the top of the 5th. Then, the Storm winds started to blow, and blow, and blow. In the bottom of the 5th inning, Storm batted through the lineup and then some, putting up 12 runs to take their first lead of the game. The Rebel forces tried to muster up a final attack, but solid Storm defense closed the gates and held off the attack. Storm stops their two game losing streak with a 23-19 come from behind win.

Hanet over Storm

Hanet, couldn't field a team so Storm patiently wait for players to show up. Then of course they win, as that always seems to happen.

Falcons Fly Over Storm

Storm suffered their first defeat of the season on Friday night. The Falcons showed a lot of power early and got out to a lead that they never let go of. The Storm bats that had been pretty hot in the first few games were cooled down by Ash, and the Falcons’ defense.

Game Highlight: Al hit a three run homer.

Not So Highlights: Brad being thrown out at second on a ball hit to the fence. Chris and Kenny striking out.
