Storm stumbles in second game

What a difference two nights makes.

On Friday, it seemed like every ball Storm hit found a hole or a crack in the defense. On Sunday, it seemed like every ball hit was hit right at an A’s defender. The A’s also made the plays when it mattered.

Defensively, Storm uncharacteristically made some errors, or had balls get by players who normally would have fielded them. While it wasn’t horrible defense, in a game where you lose by two runs, one or more of these plays certainly could have been the difference.

Storm hopes to regroup Monday against the Rebels.

New Stat's website

With the problems at Statleaders.com. We have temperately moved the 2018 season stats to Freesoftballstats.com

Email me for access to the stat's.

Storm’s Season Starts Strong

It looked for a while like Storm’s season would start much like the last. Would the first game be rained out? Washed out? Blown out by the wind? Blacked out by a lack of electricity? No. The weather toned down in time for the game to start.

With Al’s car and equipment trapped in a garage closed by the power outage, and Mike already signed out, Jeff had to step in and pitch. The wind died down enough for strikes to be thrown, and Storm’s defense was able to track fly balls as they swirled and soared in the air and the infield was solid. Storm gave up only two runs in the game.

The offense started off where it left off. Well sort of. Jeff popped out to the catcher (Brad, who made a fairly heroic effort to get to the ball catching for Coulas), and then Joey struck out. That’s right. Joey STRUCK OUT IN HIS FIRST AT BAT OF THE SEASON. After getting past those two slouches, however, Storm started to roll. The hits found all the gaps and cracks in Coulas’s defense.
Later in the game, Duran took up Joey’s mantle and hit a grand slam when the team was already leading by 20 runs. He still ended the game a double short of the cycle, but is on pace to shatter his own triples record
.

It was a great start considering Storm had ten players, many of whom were hobbled by pain, but were able to fight through and play tight defense and hit well.

Statleaders.com Issues

Please note that, our stat's website is having a few issues, it will hopefully be back to normal after this coming weekend. If it is not repaired by then we will look to another provider. I have been assured by them, that we will get all the data from the last 10 years. But we will have to use a different service. I already have one lined up and ready to go if needed.
