In front of a loud and
enthusiastic crowd of one, Storm finished off the Canada Day long weekend
against Coulas, and managed a feat that the Toronto Blue Jays could not – a
victory.
The game started slowly, with
Storm only two runs in the first two innings, and four in the first three;
however, as some of the rust from the long rainy layoff started to come off,
Storm started to explode. Storm scored four in the 4th, seven in the 5th,
and 13 in the 6th to defeat Coulas 28-2.
Game Highlights:
Duran had an excellent game on
the offensive side of the ball. He hit a home run that ACTUALLY COUNTED, and
then went on to hit for the cycle plus (a walk as well as all the other stuff).
It was pretty exciting watching him get his triple. Bob did all he could to
force Kevin to keep moving by practically passing him (possibly he did pass
him) on the way home. Duran did not fare quite as well on the other side of the
ball as he could frequently be heard yelling “I got it” only to then see the
ball hit the ground.
Kevin had quite the evening as
well. Bob passing him on the base paths was not the only chink in his armour.
In his third at bat, with two strikes, he watched the ball bounce off the front
of the board. He was then booed by the lone fan, who happened to be his
fiancĂ©e. She then said, “Don’t worry; I still love you,” as he walked back out
onto the field, so all is well in paradise.
Also wanted to send out congratulations to Kenny and his wife, who just had their third child, born at 9:11am on July 2nd. Name to be decided soon, but she is a healthy 6lbs 9ounces.
