Storm take the first game in Friday Night Doubleheader

The first game of the double header was a tightly contested affair through the first four innings. Duran hit an inside the park home run (are they even home runs anymore) and the teams traded blows to tie 6-6 through 6.

Then the open inning hit and Storm blew the gates open scoring 13 runs in the 5th inning. Every player got a hit in the inning except Jeff, who walked twice in the same inning. The Isotopes didn’t recover and Storm won 19-7..

A few funny things happened during the game. Instead of stepping on second base, Joey decided to throw to first, but Brian was blinded by the son and didn’t even know the ball had been thrown and the ball bounded off the runner.

Speaking of Brian, he doesn’t seem to have found his equilibrium after losing all the weight, because a throw from first base that he caught, literally knocked him over.

Bob was going back from third on a foul ball and Duran was coming in. When Bob called it, Duran hit the ground like he’d been shot by a sniper. We’re definitely glad there wasn’t a collision, though.

On a pop fly to second, Joey wandered over and caught the ball beside Brad.

And other stuff. It feels like there was more stuff, but my memory ain’t what it used to be. Storm won both games. I’m going to start taking notes.
