It was a relatively quiet start to the game between Hanet and Storm. The teams combined for a grand total of four runs across four innings. Duran’s two run home run was the only bright spot for Storm in the first four innings. Each team remembered how to hit in the 5th. Hanet scored three runs highlighted by a two run blast by Kyle and took the lead 4-3. Storm put up more runs in the top of the 5th than they had in the previous innings combined. Four runs highlighted by a Duran two run dinger.
Hanet would then have their biggest inning in the 6th. They scored four, again highlighted by a home run by Kyle. At this point it was starting to look like only one guy on each team was able to provide any kind of offence. The score was 8-7, Hanet leading going into the bottom of the 6th. Storm scored nothing in the bottom of the 6th, and Hanet scored nothing in the top of the 7th leading to an eventful bottom of the 7th inning. What had been a quiet game erupted in the final frame.
After Brian led off with a double, Duran stepped to the plate. He had two home runs in the game already, and a home run would win the game. He hit a line drive up the middle off George that went for a single. Hanet exploded in anger, though it doesn’t seem likely that someone with two home runs and a chance to win the game would intentionally hit a ball at the pitcher instead of going for the glory.
When the game calmed down and continued, Joey hit a single, tying the game, and Rene hit a home run to give Storm the victory 10-8.
