The second was a repeat of the first. Greenthumb scored nothing and Storm scored four. This time, their offence was primarily powered by Joey’s three run blast to left field. Fortunes reversed a little in the third as Greenthumb got on the board and Storm put up a goose egg.
The fourth started with Sam hitting a triple. He lollygagged his way to first thinking it would be caught, and when it wasn’t he probably could have scored, but because of the lack of hustle off the bat had to stay at third. He almost didn’t score as the next two batters grounded out, but Mills drove him home and Duran showed him what his hit could have been as he legged out an inside the park home run. Interestingly enough, he might have been better off stopping at 3rd.
Storm added four more in the fifth to really break the game wide open. Duran then led off the sixth with a selfish solo home run. Storm kept hitting for a total of four. Sam PilKey wanted to be atop the leaderboard again, so he took a few huge hacks and swung through them for his team leading fifth strikeout (he would like everyone to know that he also leads the team in singles). Greenthumb showed signs of life in the top of the seventh, but it was too little too late. Storm won 19-5.
Defensive Highlights:
In the first inning, every out was made by a Pilkey.
Sam played his first inning at 3rd and had a ball hit to him on the first pitch. He scooped it nicely and threw a laser to first.
All around Storm didn’t give away outs.
