Storm rains runs on Expos

Storm was trying to recover from a doubleheader featuring double losses on Sunday night. It looked ealy on like Storm had returned to form as they started the game with a six run mercy inning capped off by a bases clearing triple by Jeff. The six runs in the inning were double the number of runs Storm managed against Triple Play in the entire game on Sunday. The second inning looked more like the game against Triple Play as Storm went down quickly as Brian grounded into an inning ending double play.

Mills got a little overconfident on a grounder in the outfield as he lollygagged his way toward a ball and lackadaisically reached out to grab the ball. The ball unfortunately did not cooperate and rolled by him leading to a triple. The Expos scored two in the inning, and were back in the game.

Storm struggled hitting until the 4th. Craig led off with a massive, no doubt, Han Sol home run. The next two batters got out, but Storm then strung together six consecutive hits to cap off their second mercy inning of the game. The Expos added two in the bottom half of the inning and the score ws 13-7 going into the open frames.

Storm carried their momentum from the end of the 4th innings hitting into the 5th. They rained down a torrential downpour of runs on the Expos. Rene launched a 3 run blast, Craig blasted out of the box for a triple, Bob, Jeff, and Brad hit doubles, Duran launched a three run homer, and then Joey, feeling left out, launched a selfish solo. This was even more selfish than Craig’s earlier solo, because this solo home run put Storm up plus two. Jeff and Sam were both a home run short of the cycle so Joey had effectively blocked those two players (one of whom is his son) from any potential of hitting for the cycle. Craig, batting for the second time in the inning mashed a ball and looked like he was planning a second triple of the inning, but Rene was Reneing around the bases and stopped at third holding Craig up at second. This was actually better for Craig, because this was all he needed for the cycle. Storm would eventually be retired.
